Power line questions

So a little while ago, before I bought a new router, I had a powerline from the router to my PC since it didn't have WiFi at the time, and while my mother pays for 200mbps I'd cap out at around 60-70 over powerline, even after upgrading the router, any ideas why?

Powerline can be tricky. Actual speeds depend on the quality of your wiring, amount of interference from other stuff in the house, whether they're on the same circuit, etc. It could be that 60-70 mbps is all the powerline connectors can do in your situation. Is the connection showing as a 1 gbps or a 100 mbps connection in Windows?

This, in addtion there are TONS of powerline adapter kits that will say for example "X speed" where X > 100 and they only have a 100Mbps physical interface so you'll NEVER get over 100Mbps

Do you have alot of inductive load stuff connected? Things like fridge, washing machine, heater will kill powerline performance. And that is on top of the wiring conditions in your house.

The washing machine and a spare fridge is below my room and the main kitchen is not on the way to my room. I'm not sure on the wiring in the house.

If you can use the same circuit that may help a little.  Check the specs of the powerline adapter as well.  If you have coaxial in your room/area maybe try a MoCA network.  

I do believe there is a coax plug in my room but it's not exactly near my computer, also what exactly is MoCA? I did look it up but it's a tad confusing even for me. I don't think I've ever heard of it before
