280W PSU with a GPU

penguin8967

Looking at Linus' recent vid, he put a 1650 super in with a 275W PSU in a Dell Optiplex.

I have a more modern optiplex (don't judge me), with an i5-9500 and a 280W PSU. Do you think I could put anything in there?

Other specs:聽16GB DDR4, 512GB NVMe SSD, 1 back fan

馃惂penguin8967馃惂

Intel i5-9500, 16GB DDR4 RAM, 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD, 1x 120mm Fan.

Upgrading soon to an ITX GTX 1650 (4GB).

Linus used SATA to 8pin/6 pin if I recall correctly and that is not the most ideal of situations and is usually not recommend so the most safe option is to got for a 1650 that doesn't require the extra pcie connector

Do you think it'd still run on the puny PSU? My one concern was that the more modern 9th Gen i5 would suck up more power than a 2nd gen i7.

if you can fit a regular PSU in there, it would be worth it. that way you could put whatever GPU you wanted and not be limited by a 1650 super.

might need an ATX adapter for motherboard.

I can't fit a regular PSU in there, otherwise I'dve done that already. It's some weird proprietary size that's really long and thin.

I also considered the 1050ti. I don't use it for FPS games or anything like that.

My PC isn't the small form factor version, so I'm not sure if that'd work.

My case is very short however, so I would probably need a mini version

its a half height that has both brackets.聽

you should try to find one that doesn't require PCIE power
