How to upgrade to new system without reinstalling everything

Hi everyone,

 

I see Linus upgrading his personnal rig or other ones very often.

I was wondering how do he deals with the drivers problem from the change of components and the windows licence.

 

Does he reinstalls everything on a new drive with a new windows licence everytime time on the new system ?

 

I'm asking the question because I have to upgrade to a new motherboard and a new GPU and I'm trying to find a way to just plug the SSD from my old system into the new system.
