Parts compatibility for Server Build

Hey folks!

I have an old workstation lying around which I intend to turn into a FreeNAS machine. Its a Lenovo S20 (4105) with a Xeon W3503.

I'm not sure what motherboard it is. Most probably x58. The manual says the board is Intel Tylersburg 36S (which is the codename of x58) but the supported CPUs only say Xeon.

Take a look - https://support.lenovo.com/au/en/solutions/pd005642

I just came across an i7 960 that's selling for real cheap. Is it compatible with the system ? If yes, is it a good choice for a FreeNAS ? (Plan to use as NAS and run 1-2 VMs)

Now for RAM, the documentation on ARK says that the processor supports DDR3 800/1066. The system had 1333MHz RAM installed. Would it have been running at lower speeds according to the CPU spec ? I'm a bit confused.

Any input is appreciated. Thanks!
