What Ram is compatible with the b450 Tomahawk

I'm researching different RAM sticks for the tomahawk max, but I can't seem to find any information on which ones are compatible with it. i ma quite new to building PCs and I would really like some help on this.

Buy Crucial Ballistix Sport LT or AT kits, 2x8gb 3200Mhz CL16 or 3000Mhz CL15.

Never seen any of those not capable of running 3600-3733 CL16 with 3rd gen, or 3466Mhz with 2nd gen Ryzen.

Life is really challenging. I don't always suceed: )

Would using 2 8GB sticks and 1 16GB stick on the tomahawk max do anything to effect the performance?

Yes. Using 2 sticks the motherboard treats them as a single ram storage. Basically Ram-Raid0. Stick in a single stick though it and has to treat each stick as a single stick. Cutting the data flow speed in half.

Try to get a single package of 4. I've read people ordering the same brand but different packs and finding out the chips were by different manufacturers. Which, if you overclock, makes things tricky.

Check the compatibility list for tested 4x8gb kits...so you'll know it works...because they've tested it...getting 2 sets of 2x8gb kits sometimes might not reach the xmp speed..

rather 2x16gb. two modules are "generally" easier on the IMC, and might require less SoC voltage. --> less heat, more headroom.

If possible, always prefer two sticks :)

I'm having this exact problem on my b450 tomahawk OG and 2600.

Bought one kit of G.Skill RipJaws F4-3200C16D-16GVKB manufactured in aug 2018, hits XMP just fine.

When I add in a second kit that I picked up recently manufactured in oct 2021 ( I'm pretty sure with different die ) I can't hit the XMP ratings.

Tonight I'll try removing the original and running only the new kit to see if it hits XMP by itself.

So basically, it does seem like ram is picky. I was hoping to avoid issues by buying the same sku.
