Help a noobie choose

Hi guys! Recently upgraded my pc after 6years. I have a rx 5600xt gpu and amd ryzen 5 3600. Im now looking for a good monitor, im just confused what to get. Im looking at the lg ultragear 1440p 144hrz 31.5' or the 1080p 240hrz (correct me if im wrong). Any help would be appreciated.

your gpu can game at 1440p 60fps on medium-high settings. but i think that the 240z full hd will be better

I Use my knowledge as business owner and self taught technician aswell as an AI to help people. AI might be controversial but it actually works pretty well 90% of the time.

would recommend 1440p 144. better experience, and not many people really need 240hz

stuff is cool. stuff that has fancy lighting is cooler. stuff that has fancy lighting and works is the coolest.

 

i game so i know a bit abt gaming tech, not much abt professional tech.

 

writing this as i finish a 3 hour D2 sesh so excuse anything wrong.

Fps games like overwatch, csgo, and warzone but I also play single player games like red dead and planning to buy battlefield 5. Yeah, i wish I could get a more powerful gpu but its too expensive here in new zealand almost double the price compared in US.

Hard to tell with that budget what you mean, but here comes some suggestions.

For more expensive 1440p monitors my suggestions would be:

These two are pretty similiar, LG is slightly faster, but Asus has better ergonomics.

 

And for little cheaper 1440p monitor I would suggest these

Pixio has slightly higher refresh rate, but LG is slightly faster response time.

Does gaming on 1440p severely affect my gaming? I mean is the fps drop or graphics noticeable? Im sorry im not really technical but i red somewhere a 1080p monitor is better for my gpu as its not high end. Please enlighten me.

Yes, in graphically demanding games you'll have to turn down your settings to game well on 1440p. Older games and games that aren't graphically demanding games should work well.

1080p is indeed better resolution for you, if you want to play with high - maxed out graphical settings.

Hey thanks for the suggestions man! I think ill get a 1080p. Does size matter in getting a monitor? I mean from 24'- 27'?

No, but some people really hate 1080p on 27" monitor, as the pixels get larger.

Those 240hz monitors I linked are all 1080p, and I can send you some 144hz 1080p monitors too if you want.

Asus has somewhat better colors than the LG and better ergonomics, but really similiar monitors.

LG technically has HDR, but it's too weak to have any real benefit from it.

Viewsonic is the fastest and cheapest of the bunch and is 24" but it's TN panel so it has worst colors and viewing angles.

Ill probably go with the lg27gl650 as the asus is almost double its price and no one sells the view sonic in my country. Good reviews as well.

240hz your PC is pretty common and I know that it can run most games at competitive settings at 300 FPS+ so you should be good with it.

I would not recommend big monitors for FPS games since they really do affect your eye FOV

I've used 27" monitor for years now and it's been fine.

I assume op doesn't play at a such a high level that the size would be a problem.

Yeah true just a casual gamer. Hard to check out monitors personally because of the lockdown and youtube videos doesnt do justice in showing monitors
