Can I change RAM frequency without changing timings?

My RAM XMP is only for 3000mhz and my mobo only supports 2666. I can change the frequency to 2666 manually however. Do I have to also change the timings to the ones on the XMP Profile for 3000mhz, or does that only work with 3000mhz? Will I need new timings to run at 2666 or can I just leave the timings on the 'auto' setting. Attached photo of list where I can change RAM Freq, and another photo of default timings.
