I got a friend who wants to get a new GPU for gaming on a 1366x768 TV

I was wondering how well a R7 260X for $145 would perform at that resolution and possibly for 1080p as a future upgrade for him.

Completely maxing out the graphics isnt a big concern for him... but would like to get mediumish settings while maintaining 35-45 in most games.

EDIT: He mostly plays Path of Exile, Borderlands 2 and Hitman: Absolution

A 260x is a solid choice for that use case. It should blow 720p away and do very nicely at 1080p at decent looking settings.

The new GTX 750 Ti just came out at that price point and it's better than the 260X and you'll be pretty much maxing everything at 1360x768. I play at this same resolution with a 560 and play everything high to ultra, the 750 Ti is much better than a 560.

I think a 750ti would be complete overkill for the resolution you are listing especially when he doesn't want to max out the details. a 650 or even a 640 IMO

EDIT I just saw the 1080p upgrade. A 750ti would be great at 1080p but if he doesn't care about maxing out details then he could save some money
