Depends which B450 board you have. Decent B450 boards will handle it without any issues. Cheaper B450 will struggle to run this CPU.

Cheap motherboards with bad power delivery will overheat and power throttle more demanding CPUs, yes. If you have a motherboard with a VRM heat sink, chances are you can run a stock 2700 without issues.

What would be classed as cheap? Because I was looking at an msi B450 - A ATX Pro max I think and thats £90 ish

As said above, as long as its not a trash tier B450 it should handle a 2700(X) without much issue.

You’ll want something above a 6 phase vrm for reliability, so maybe something in the £120 range, but really it just depends I’d personally go and look at reviews.
