Hi!

I want to upgrade my current GPU (AMD/ATI RX550 2G) to a more powerful one, but I don't really want to buy a new PSU if not nesecearry. I have this PC now. I was thinking about 2 choices: either an RX 480 8G (AMD stock cooler) for 35 000 HUF (roughly $105US) or a GTX 970 4G (ROG STRIX) for 28 000 HUF (roughly $85US). I know that the RX480 outperforms the 970, but I only want to run about 10 games and do a bit of video editing with it. The game that requires the most performance is RDR2.

PS. Sorry if my english is not very good, I hope you can understand what I wanted to say.

i am sure this was asked. you have an rx 550 correct if so i have heard it said before a 4 gig or 8 gig rx570 would work. problem is i am not sure you psu and cpu specs. that has a lot to do with figuring out your gpu capabilities including your motherboard pcie 3 and 4 are common place on higher end products these days thats why you need to consider the motherboard and cpu and psu parts as well as the gpu memory is a good thing to think about depending on your game requirements as well. i usually use 32 or 64 gigs for a system i currently use b450 or better for motherboards and well i try to use rx 580 or better for my gpu and a rosewill quark series psu with 80 plus platnum. my cpus are ryzen i am only using amd for my setups. ssds only no hard drive so thats another thing hardrives and bluray or dvd drives need to be factored in as well for psu.

id say upgrading the ram to 16 gigs will make quite a big difference for video editing, id recommend making some room for that. GPU makes less of a difference in software such as premier pro, where the CPU is dominant, but a large difference for software such as after effects. If you can squeeze another 8gb of ram in id take the 970.

PC:

i5 8400 - RTX 2060 - Strix B360-I - Thermaltake 240mm AIO - 16GB Vengeance RGB PRO - CRYSTAL 280X - HD Plex 400w AC/DC Converter

CUSTOM KEYBOARD:

Gmmk Pro  - Gateron ink Black v2 lubed and filmed - GMK Red Samurai - PC plate - Zeal stabs

DAILY TECH:

Samsung Gear s3 Frontier Smartwatch - Galaxy A70 - Bose QC Earbuds - Bose SoundLink Wireless - Ultimate Ears Wonderboom

If you click on "this PC" it shows my current setup. It's:

MSI A320M-Pro VD/S

RYZEN 5 3600

8GB 3000mhz

128GB ssd with 1TB 7200rpm drive

550w thermaltake cheap 30$ psu.

I dont remember asking this question on the forum, nor if I'd seen that post you were mentioning.

I'm trying to change my previous cpu (athlon x4, now I have the ryzen) to 8gb ram. Then I will buy the 970. Thank you.

HUF is Hungarian Forints. My max budget is $105US, but I want to spend less if possible. I have a Ryzen 5 3600 and a 550W thermaltake psu with no 80+ rating if I know correctly.

try to see if you can get an rx 570 if possible that would work with that psu. one suggestion if you have any extra money try to upgrade your psu to maybe a 650-750 watt unit. this should give some extra headroom when it comes to power demand.
