Computer not using all cores?

So i have a i3-8100 cpu and it should have 4 cores according to intel website. 

I look on task manager and it say i only have one. which seems weird. Am i crazy or is something wrong?

 

also my computer has been slower and it struggles to run more than 2 programs and windows takes like 50% of my cpu.

its hard to surf the web.

I think you can disable cores in the BIOS and in windows msconfig under Boot tab under advaned options.

 

I would poke around in both locations and make sure nothing got change accidentally somehow.

Hmm it seems weird as well as that up time seems weird.
Could you do a favour and go into device manager and find out your cores? 
I know you said you had four cores but I'm just confirming if Windows knows that there are 4 cores.

Just checked it found 4.

To further simplify your worries.
Just follow the following steps.

Press Windows key + R
type msconfig

Hit Enter
Select the boot tab
Select advanced options
Uncheck Number processors
Click OK

Click Apply then OK

Restart when prompted

If this doesnt help then it should fix it self. 
Usually task manager doesn't show its cores due to its boot processes.

Thank you fatalz that is what it was!!! as soon as i unchecked that and restarted  and now all 4 cores work!!!!!!
