Linus team  how did u get sponsorship of the 3d printers. i want to help my local community but my i3 is not producing any prints.

( i had bought a kit off amazon came damaged and i didn't send it back.

i think my extruder is shot. fan won't come on.motor won't engange.  the main chaissi was damaged in shipping we super glued with ca glue to get the frame back.

i run a print shop so i have access to some acrylic. we have used a plotter and laser engraver now helping to make fabric face masks. but i want to do more and donate at least 500 face shields to the red cross and medical facilities. i have the film that can make the shield. how do u get sponsorship or at least a good discount one one of these machines. thanks.

i looked at the web site for pursa and i only see one active member in my entire island and i don't think he is producing any prints.

You totally should have sent that back.

First of all, always check if what you are donating / plan to donate is actually needed and up to spec.

As for sponsorship, either they approach you offering it or you approach them asking for it. In the end the common denominator will most likely still be marketing related, i.e. showing off the machine and its capabilities to a large audience (LTT, for example, is perfect for that). It may be for a good cause, but sponsorships and the likes are still marketing in the end. I'm not trying to belittle you or your cause, but being realistic, they are not going to give out free or discounted printers just because someone wants to print PPE.

It never hurts to try and reach out though, there's nothing to lose. Worst case scenario is no response, best case scenario is they'll offer you something.

As @tikker said a sponsorship is only really applicable when both parties benefit in some way. It’s not a one way street. It’s also somewhat difficult to get 3D printers right now due to supply/demand. The quickest way to get one is to buy it unfortunately. If you have a Micro Center near by they stock them regularly. Good luck OP!

Really? I see them in stock everywhere..

Also even, so, it's not so difficult to do, a diy printer, especially because there are open hardware/software projects..

Thought the 3d printer comunity, is somewhat lame
