ryzen 9 3900x has much higher cache than any intel chip meant for gaming.

the r9 3900x runs pretty hot with 12 cores. Disable 4 of them then oc it. it comes on par with i9 9900k in gaming then pretty much

You can actually pick up a Ryzen 9 with that budget but I'd recommend an X570 board or decent B450 board for this chip

Yeah the ryzen 9 is really good I think I currently have a aorus b450 elite but gonna buy a new cpu and then upgrade mobo and I was only doubting because the slight performance difference but in the near future amd is going to outperform Intel probably right? Because games will take advantage of the cores and threads

In my country the r9 3900x is 450 eur

good motherboards for your ryzen 9 : the asus prime pro is a decent x570 board

?!?!?

Um why would you buy a 3900x to then dissable cores? Aswell as for gaming, doing manual overclocking is actually in many instances worse......

Not to mention the regular Boosting, which will handle idlecores, meaning dissabling them os essentially pointless.

Yeah but it's white and doesn't fit my color scheme... Any other suggestions and preferably not gigabyte/aorus because of rgb fusion

Why not just run your current board with a Bios update. Use the stock cooler or a downdraft aircooler like the dark rock TF.

Your current Auros board is fine to run a 3900x providing it gets some airflow.

I have a dark rock pro 4

If my mb is good enough then I can stick with it but I want to upgrade because of rgb fusion doesn't link with anything and switch to something like msi or asus

Most B450 can only handle 65watt CPU, 3900x is 105w, x470 or x570 is recommended. Or use 3700x instead.

Ryzen 5700g @ 4.4ghz all cores | Asrock B550M Steel Legend | 3060 | 2x 16gb Micron E 2666 @ 4200mhz cl16 | 500gb WD SN750 | 12 TB HDD | Deepcool Gammax 400 w/ 2 delta 4000rpm push pull | Antec Neo Eco Zen 500w

Well if you want it spesifically for that, then go ahead. The current board is capable of handling the the CPU.

Just avoid anything lower end than the Unity from MSI x570 range.

Asus has a decent across the range X570 lineup. Their B450 being mediocre at best.

Airflow does wonders for VRMs. His VRM is ok. Providing it gets some airflow, it will be good enough.

So wait.. No msi and Asus is OK? If I'm understanding correct

For the MSI x570 range, all boards below the MSI x570 unify should be avoided (i wrote unity, but its called unify). The Unify and above are fine.

The entire range of x570 asus is fine. The lower end being perticularly good for the price.

Why not just buy a 9900K at that point? Seems like it'd be much easier than getting a 3900X, disabling 4 cores then overclocking it.

A 3900X is overkill for gaming anyway, if you're going to be gaming just get a 3600 or 3700X. They're cheaper and they still perform well in most games.

It should work, yes.

because a i9 9900k is 150 euros more expensive..

you mean like the back case fan as intake

No directly pointing a fan at it.

Like an 80mm fan. Not neccesary, but it helps a lot in terms of VRM temps. (not that they matter unless they are overheating

This is also known as a 3700x which is $200 cheaper.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

A 3800X is also 105W so are you saying a B450 couldn't cope with that as well ?

Hardware Unboxed/Techspot have already shown that a B450 board like the Tomahawk can cope with a 3900X/3950X.
