All I know is that he hates apple, but I doubt he is using some cheap notebook.  I read somewhere that the 1000+ notebook market is dominated by apple though, so if he is not using a mbp, what is he using?

I am impelled not to squeak like a grateful and frightened mouse, but to roar...

The second laptop other than the Dell XPS 12 linus uses is the vizio cn15, a touchscreen windows 8 15" laptop with an nvidia gpu. 

 

Linus uses an Acer S7 a lot, AFAIK.

he doens't hate apple, he is an ipad and (ex) iphone user.

 

He hasn't purchased any notebooks because he received them for free

oops yes. He does say a lot of good stuff about that laptop, and justifiably so. It is an amazing laptops spec wise, and there aren't any usability issues for it from all I've read. It's basically the only acer laptop I would ever consider.

I think the xps 12 was donated by Intel, he replacd the ssd un one video, he also has an msi that i saw un an older video.

I wonder if he still has it though. He said he had to return it but was going to ask Acer to keep it...

I think he has the newer haswell i7 which fixes the main flaw of the old s7 (battery and bulkiness with added battery)
