alright so the time has come for me to buy a new phone, now i know what you'll say, just buy an android and you can have the same or even better battery life at much lower prices,

well....i've always used android devices and now i'd like to try ios for a change, at the moment i have about 800 euros to spend which is just enough for a refurbished iphone xs max with 512gb(the 64gb was only 50 euros cheaper so why not) the problem is that from what i've heard from friends and family the battery on the xs max is well...less than stellar.

so here's my plan:i buy the device mentioned above and i take it to a repair place to retrofit my device with an iphone 11 pro max battery, the only difference between them is that the new battery will be 0.7 mm thicker but i can sand the inside of the back glass to make a bit more room for the battery, and after all that is done the repairshop closes up the phone with the original adhesive so i can retain the ip68 water resistance

is my idea gonna work? and if not which problem will end my project?

gaming system: Intel core I9 12900ks / biostar Z690A valkyrie / 4x8gb corsair Vengeance @3333Mhz ram / RX 7900XTX pulse gpu / Thermalright peerless assassin 140 /Coolermaster Qube 500 case / Be Quiet Dark Power Pro 12 1500w power supply

laptop: Dell xps 9510, 3.5k OLED, i7 11800h, rtx 3050 ti, 2x16gb DDR4 @ 3200Mhz, 1TB main drive, 2TB add in ssd

Yeah you'll have galaxy note 7 problems where the battery is cramped and can cause fire and other damages. Plus that repair is gonna cost you a fair bit of money and your iphone will constantly tell you the battery is invalid and have battery calibration issues.

So basically don't. If you want good battery life get something like a xioami mi 9t or one of those other big battery phones. If you go ios you just have to live with whatever apple gives you.

The repair shop may be unwilling to do it for the reasons @jaslion mentioned. Afaik, official repair shops have some kind of Apple license, which they might be at risk of losing if they do non-sanctioned modifications. Not sure about insurance etc. If something goes wrong, they might take part of the blame and they're not going to risk that either.

I haven't looked into it, but is the thickness the only difference? Or maybe a different voltage, too? Are the contacts placed in the same spot or would it require e.g. additional changes in cabling?

Voltage would definitely be the same. Contacts could be at different spots. Width or height might be different.
And im pretty sure that no repair shop will do this, just like @Eigenvektor said. They cant risk their reputation.

You want better battery, you will have to sacrifice. (Altho i would call it a sacrifice going for an Apple device. :P )

When i ask for more specs, don't expect me to know the answer!

the repair shop isn't apple certified by any stretch of the imagination, plus they've helped me with similar procedures in the past( on samsung devices) that im sure of

the question is whether something like this would be possible(im asking because the dimensions of the batteries cant ber found anywhere on the internet)

gaming system: Intel core I9 12900ks / biostar Z690A valkyrie / 4x8gb corsair Vengeance @3333Mhz ram / RX 7900XTX pulse gpu / Thermalright peerless assassin 140 /Coolermaster Qube 500 case / Be Quiet Dark Power Pro 12 1500w power supply

Here's an image of both batteries. Looks like dimensions are fairly different and contacts are in different places, too

Possible? Maybe. Safe? No. Apple is all about being thin and they barely have any margins so basically don't do it if you don't want your phone to suddenly catch fire.

Just invest in a proper portable powerbank. A good one will last many years.

Batteries tend to be quite bespoke in dimensions, and their connections. Even when removable batteries were a thing, this largely held true. I wouldn’t bother.  Look for an XR or 11 if you want battery life. Both are quite stellar in that area.

Mid range Android phones with cut-down SoCs tend to boast very good battery life as well.
