blue screening and crashing

keatond27

i am  having chronic crashing in games and blue screening when playing games as well. to fix the problem i have tried

a windows memory test

memtest 86 memory test

old memory

updating gpu drivers

wiping my hdd

downloading crystaldiskinfo

reinstalling windows

all of my temperatures are fine

the only things i have left to do is try my old graphics card and update my bios and remove my cpus overclock.

the cpu has been overclocked for 6 months and i havent noticed any issues until about a 2 weeks ago. i havent updated my bios since i have gotttten my motherboard but im not sure how it would affect the crashing. help would be greatly appreciated.

a few other helpful thing is i cant update windows because it gives me an error message .

my specs are ryzen5 1600 asus prime x470 pro msi rx 580 wd blue 1tb 16 gb 3000 speed team group memory

reinstalling windows

The updating windows error is throwing me off of solution I think it might be. All bios should be default. So we can rule out an OC issue.

When reinstalling windows did you the latest "media creation tool" and try to install all windows updates before touching any applications and/or files?

the cpu overclock is 3.7ghz. the temps are around 45 c for the cpu for the graphics card its around 68. i never took notes on the messages but one was page fault in non paged error and one was something about a kernel error. i will update you if i have another blue screen i surprisingly haven't had one today. when i did look them up tho they did all say that it could be a hard drive issue but the crystal disk info said otherwise.

i am able to update windows now i am no longer getting that error message when trying to update. when i reinstalled windows i just used the media creation tool and it brought me to the screen where you select the drives and i deleted all of the partitions and it remade them for itself when it was reinstalled.

Good to hear. I thought it could be a corrupt installation.

So what are games doing now?

I knew it wasnt a corrupt installation because I reinstalled twice but forgot to mention that. Games are still crashing but today is the first day in weeks that I haven’t bluescreened. Crashing was never a problem for the though until about 2 weeks ago.
