I just finished my friends pc and it booted up fine but now it's a black screen with a white line on the top like it's typing. Can someone please help me get my friends pc up and running.

 

Specs are

Asus tuf am4 motherboard

Ryzen 5 3600

MSI GTX 1070

Corsair vengeance 16gbs ram

Did the motherboard box have a 'Ryzen 3000 desktop ready' image on it?

As in when you try to go into your bios, it doesn't enter the bios but stays stagnant on the screen you're describing?

I may have found the issue. The motherboard and cpu and not for the same gen. Could is 3rd gen and motherboard is for 2nd gen

What motherboard is it? You didn't specify

Then you need to update the BIOS of the board.

Request an AMD bootkit via the RMA process or get your hands on a 2nd gen/1st gen CPU to update it with.
