best microphone under 60$

demonkoi

hi i am looking to buy a new microphone and am wondering what is the best one to get. Preferably i would like to get a microphone that can attach to my existing headset. But i also wouldn't mind spending a little extra to get a really good condenser mic that has a highly adjustable stand as well as a pop filter.  Also i run a cherry mx blue keyboard so i don't know how viable a condenser microphone would be.

thanks in advance

Modmic UNI or the OG one if you can stretch your budget by a bit.

If you wouldn't mind spending a little extra, get the cheapest interface you can find (probably a Bheringer um2) and the cheapest used XLR mic with decent reviews (AT2020 or MXL v67 are great options) you can find then boom, you're done. Pop filters are crazy cheap or can be made with a stocking and coathanger. Beyond that, scissor mounts are like 10 bucks. Though if you're running MX Blues I'm not sure you'll get great audio quality from a sensitive mic.

Get a SHURE mic,  might be a little more then 60 bucks but well worth it.  Also remember you need good room acoustics and what have you.  SHURE mics have a range from double figures to triple digit 200 or 600 dollar mics and are very known in the audio industry.

thanks for the advice i already have a mixer so i dont need a interface i was using with the AKG C414 XLII but got robbed recently and it was sadly stolen. funny story how i got the microphone we had a party at our house and had live music and the audio company that we rented the equipment from forgot to pick up the microphone and  I put off calling them for a little bit and when i finally did call them they had gone out of business. so i ended up with an insanely fancy mic

Well there you go, just grab a v67G or 2020, will probably be around 60 bucks, scissor arm will be 10 bucks or so and pop filter could be about $4, not too expensive and it will sound very nice. if you want something that sounds similar to the 414 a company called 3U audio sells the Teal CM1 with a very similar capsule and it will sound extremely good (not the same) for less than $120

thanks for the advice i really like shure mics i used to be in our schools av club and we only used shure mic's was always surprised by how good the audio quality from them is.the one big reason that i wouldn't go for one is that in my 2 years at the av club we had to 4 of our 12  shure mics break so im not so confident on the actual build quality. keeping in mind we didn't take the best care of our microphones

I think your incident of mics dying is fishy.  Ive used SHURE Beta line and I know a couple other musicians with the beta mics for years no problem.  Plus you have a warranty so your covered.

I tend to agree, Shure is the industry standard for live mics for a reason, they just don't break.
There are better sounding options for cheaper but Shure certainly is the biggest name in live microphones.

I must stress though, they won't sound anywhere near as 'crisp' or 'detailed' as your 414 just by virtue of being a dynamic microphone.
It may not pick up as much background  and so long as you're okay with lower quality audio a dynamic might be the right choice, if so, Tbone, Sennheiser, Samson, Behringer and Shure are your choices for brands. Check out Podcastage if you want to head the difference between models, he usually has reviews on stuff like that.

I agree, well if he can spend 150 bucks he can get the Beta line .......I mean if hes not really a big audiophile 35 bucks is a bargain.

Thomann makes clones of the SM57 and 58 that are consistently reviewed as being better than the original for about a third the price, like I said, Shure is industry standard for a reason but that doesn't mean there aren't better options for cheaper.

I've got more than enough microphones already and generally am not a massive fan of dynamic mics but when I eventually get around to micing up a full drum kit it's gonna be the 57 clones on toms and snare, ISK pearls on OH (blind test show people like them over the equivalent Neumann) and probably a 212 or EV PL33 on bass. Dynamics in my eyes have a purpose and to me it's micing high-spl sources like drums and amps (so long as you don't already use a ribbon or condenser for that).
But I digress....
Lots of people enjoy them on vocal and I'm not about to tell people that they're wrong for liking a different microphone design to me, I might like tube condensers but I understand that they can be very expensive and that other people are certainly allowed to like different sounds.
