I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Hello,

This is the WORST x570 motherboard around so DO NOT get it.

Get a Tomahawk Max instead.

eh, the X570-A pro is worse, same VRM, smaller heatsink

and the tomahawk has a worse VRM, its just that the tomahawk is cheaper.

Looks like a bad deal considering the MSRPs for the respective products (from the top of my head), also the motherboard's bad and you should probably get faster RAM.

Desktop: Intel Core i9-9900K | ASUS Strix Z390-F | G.Skill Trident Z Neo 2x16GB 3200MHz CL14 | EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER XC Ultra | Corsair RM650x | Fractal Design Define R6

Laptop: 2018 Apple MacBook Pro 13"  --  i5-8259U | 8GB LPDDR3 | 512GB NVMe

Peripherals: Leopold FC660C w/ Topre Silent 45g | Logitech MX Master 3 & Razer Basilisk X HyperSpeed | HIFIMAN HE400se & iFi ZEN DAC | Audio-Technica AT2020USB+

Display: Gigabyte G34WQC

The B450 Tomahawk is better than half of their x570 line up.

Why? in terms of price:performance, yes.

But the actual VRM config is worse.

Tomahawk uses a pair of 4C029Ns and a pair 4C024N for each phase, and has 4 phases.

The X570 Gaming Plus/-A Pro has 4x2 = 8 phases with half the mosfets per phase

The X570 Gaming Plus and the -A Pro have bigger heatsinks.

Yes, they are still bad value for money, but no, the VRMs are not worse. The 8 phases vs 4 double size (2x components) results in the 8 phases having better transient response.

The X570 Edge has the same VRM, but a worse heatsink than the Plus.

Hmm.

3900X OC consumes almost 2x the power of a 2700X.

power2

power1

at 4.25ghz, which is a lower freq (and probably lower voltage) than the 4.3ghz, the 3900X consumes a delta from idle of ~240W (from 72 - 313), so the power consumption is ~250W. Not to mention the idle power draw is also 20W higher than the 2700X so its probably more like 260-270W.

The 2700X has a load delta of ~145 (from 52-198), so the power consumption is probably ~160-ish.

Comparing a motherboard with 250W-280W (or possible more) draw to another with ~150-160W is not a fair comparison, just cherry-picking things doesn't help your arguement at all.

Also, not saying the Tomahawk is bad, just that the Gaming Plus isn't any worse, and is in fact better.

Also I disagree with that tier list, so idk what the point of linking that is.

Fine whatever, MSI x570 lower end are garbage that's a fact. Everyone above me said so, the reviews said so.

If you want a good x570 go for the Asus Prime P, it's way better.

The tier list is a good starting point for people with no or bad knowledge in motherboard.

Also the video say it's perfectly fine to use it so still my point stand. Especially since the 3700x draw less power than the 2700x.
