Since this is a notebook, for practical purposes the answer would be no. You'd need a compatible CPU that fits the notebook's thermal envelope or it will overheat and the CPU is most likely soldered.

The cpu isn't soldered but this notebook doesn't seem to be able to handle any core 2's so there is no "decent" upgrade.

You are correct, I've also found that it has a socket and can theoretically be swapped, but apparently the BIOS is locked to T4xxx CPUs and the T4500 is already the fastest option.
