One fan on my NH-D14 won't start to spin on it's own...

Hey Guys! 

 

So, I noticed a problem about 2 days ago with my 120mm fan on my NH-D14, I think it's a NF-F12? 

Anyways, the fan won't spin up on it's own, yet when I give it a little notch it starts up and spins until I power the PC down again. 

 

My question now would be, why it does that? I know that some Noctua fans have an insanely high start voltage, but on my old board (MSI Z77A - G41) and also as I swapped to my Extreme4 from ASRock I haven't had any problems alike. Could the fan or the cable be damaged? I run it over the L.N.A. and I even checked that I plugged it into the right one, because the manual says one needs to go to the black and the other the blue. The weird things here is that it will run perfectly after I manually started it, but tbh I don't want to do this any more as this means I have to remove the side panel in order to do that, and that's just a big inconvenience methinks.

 

What would you guys do? Should I RDM it to my vendor/Noctua or should I even unplug the fan, because temperaturewise we're more than in the green area (about 40°C) when only the 140 spins.

Contact Noctua, you might be able to RMA the fan only. 

 

I'm first going to contact the shop I bought it from, their customer service is actually pretty freaking sweet, maybe I'm lucky and I'll be able to do the same! 

Otherwise I'm going to contact Noctua directly :)
