So twice recently my computer has failed to start with this error and both times has been fixed by unplugging and plugging in the hard drive again.

Is this likely the drive causing a problem or something else? Crystaldiskinfo says the health status is good but I don't know how well that works

That's a sign of something, typically the hard drive, failing.

Or the connection to the mobo.

How old are the system components?

Comments are all quite old the newest part being a gt 710 the rest core 2 quad kinda old. None of the connections seemed close at all and I did swap the motherboard sata port it was plugged into since the last time it happened but maybe it could be a sata or power connection on the drive that's the problem?

It is something to consider. You have two connections, one on the drive, and one on the mobo. One, or both, could be bad. Who makes the motherboard and the hard drive?

If you have a solid backup plan of your data and critical files, then run it until it fails.

If you don't, I'd strongly suggest you make a backup now.

Acer is not synonymous with quality
