Hey!

I've been rocking a pre-built PC for the last 2 years, with good results. By that I mean its allowed me to game confortably @1080p somewhere between 60 and 100 fps depending on the game and settings.

This is my current config:

Motherboard: MSI Z-370-a Pro

GPU: Geforce gtx 1070ti 8Gb DDR5

CPU: Intel i7-8700k @3,7GHz

RAM: 16Gb (2x8Gb DDR4-2400Mhz)

PSU: Seasonic Si2 620W 80 Plus Bronze

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master ML120L

Monitor: Asus 27" VP278h @75Hz

Storage: M.2 Western Digital Blue SN550 1TB

Taking this config into account, what I'm aiming to do is upgrade for 1440p @144HZ gameplay, which is pretty much all this rig is for, with watching the ocasional series or movie on it. With a 1000$ budget and taking into account that I also want to upgrade my monitor with those funds, what would you guys suggest?

Thanks for the advice in advance :D

I would just upgrade the gpu

Unless you're going to upgrade your monitor I really don't think there's much sense in upgrading the GPU, especially now that AMD and Nvidia will probably be coming out with some new offerings in the near future!

Main rig:

• Ryzen 3600X • X370 Killer SLI • 16GB Corsair LPX 3200Mhz • Strix 1070ti • Define R5 • SuperNova 750 G2 • Evo 1TB + X300 4TB •

Secondary rig:

• Acer prebuilt • Rzyen 1700X (upgraded) • OEM 1060 3GB • 256GB SSD + 1TB Seagate (upgraded) •

still might want to save a bit for CPU upgrade later.

The 8700K is still one of the best CPUs for gaming, a CPU upgrade isn't necessary..

I suggest you wait til the end of the year for the new GPUs, I don't think it's worth upgrading right now you already have a great system so it wouldn't hurt to wait a bit.

Especially for 1440p gaming I don't OP really would even need to upgrade his CPU anytime soon

Just get the next generation RTX 3070 card or equivalent AMD offering depending on which is better value. Pair that up with a good FreeSync/G-SYNC Compatible 144hz 1440p monitor and you're off to the races!

• Ryzen 3600X • X370 Killer SLI • 16GB Corsair LPX 3200Mhz • Strix 1070ti • Define R5 • SuperNova 750 G2 • Evo 1TB + X300 4TB •

Thx alot for the replies guys. Guess I'll hold on the upgrading the GPU until the new gen comes out then. About the monitor tho, since my current setup can yield near 100 fps on some of the games I play frequently, is it worth it jumping the gun on upgrading it right now? I'm asking more along the lines of value really, meaning if there isn't much of a near release to bump down the prices on some of the mid to high tier units. I've been looking into the larger units, at around 32" but not really sure how to get the most out of my money and future proof myself.

Thx again in advance for the advice :D
