rx 580 recognized as rx 590

Hi,

         I just got an msi rx 580 OC edition graphics card, and when I booted up to windows ten, I saw that in device manager, it says that my gpu is an rx 590. It also says that "windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems." I also can't get the drivers for it, because the radeon driver installer keeps thinking its a rx 590, instead of an rx 580.

            Help Please!!!

Are you sure it’s not 590 than?? Did you bought it second hand? Take some pics of the card, mostly labels on the card we may be able to tell you this way.

some newer 580 might actually be just a 590 that didnt make it. like the previous Ryzen 5 1600 which literally has 8 cores because it was a 1700 with cores disabled(those lucky people ) . though, im not sure if its possible with gpu.

Im with the mentaility of "IF IM NOT SURE IF ITS ENOUGH COOLING, GO OVERKILL"

It’s possible, some of the rtx 2060 from evga , mostly this new ones KO, have dies from rtx 2080 which didn’t pass to be 2080, if I remember correctly

then it might have been just that. he might have purchased a brand new gpu, a failed 590 or someone sold him a second hand gpu with a flashed 590 bios. either way, we cant tell unless he shows us the model and the actual gpu.

If it's a used card, it's very possible that someone tried to use an RX 590 BIOS on an RX 580.

Sorry I didn't post pictures, but it showed as an rx 580 when I first put it on. But then, I restarted the computer, and updated the driver, and it now shows as a rx 580 Here is the photos

no, sorry typo, it shows as an rx 590, with error code 43, "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"

A little risky but try flashing an appropriate RX 580 bios onto it using ATI WinFlash
