I need help with building my PC.

Hello, I am building a PC so that I can play FiveM (aka Gta Rp) and lots of other games and I was wondering if this was a good setup: AMD Ryzen 7 3700x, MSI B450 Tomahawk Max, G.Skill RipJaws V Series 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3600Mhz, Samsung 970 EVO SSD 1TB,  ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 2060 Super Advanced Overclocked EVO 8G. Should I change anything ? Also, can anyone help me find a case that is under $100 and can fit everything listed above. Thank you.

Nearly all cases that are ATX size can fit those parts.

Generally, you should emphasize your GPU above other things. Try get a Ryzen 3600 and RTX 2070 Super

use pcpartpicker.com for making your build -- it'll tell you everything you need. Also don't forget a power supply.

If you tell me your region (US, UK, CANADA, etc.) and your budget I can make you a list.

That Ryzen 7 is kinda overkill for GTA 5, my Ryzen APU could run it. Maybe you could try a 3600 or 1600AF. Also, what's your country and currency code?

If its overkill, would it run it smoother ? Or do you mean overkill in a bad way ?

I'd say the R7 is a little overkill yes. Unless you'll be doing any productivity work (photo / video editing, music creating etc) then the 3600 is a great CPU. I have one now and it doesn't break a sweat for gaming really

I have a 2060 Super too and it's fantastic but hovers around 75-80% utilisation at all high settings on COD for example.

My biggest "regret" when choosing my parts was storage. I have a 1TB nvme and will need another soon. Some games are huge and quickly eat up storage. For example the latest COD update was 171GB! So 17% gone in a single game (probably more after OS takes it chunk of the 1TB).

You don't even need to spend your full budget.

Get a 3700X if you have money burning a hole in your pocket that you really want to spend.

Get an aftermarket cooler if you want to overclock and/or really like silence.

It's not going to cause any problems. It's just way more than you need, so the money could be better utilisised elsewhere. You'll have a CPU sat there that only uses a fraction of its capabilities and isn't the best investment.

Overkill like buying a Jeep for driving on a gravel road.

Yeah, it'll do it just fine, but so will a plan-old subaru or something.

You'll just have extra power that you're not using.

Depends what size you want and how much money you have.

In general, I'd go for a big 1440p monitor if you can. the 2070 Super can definitely handle it.

I have a PSU tier list in my signature for future reference, and no that PSU is high quality.

Honestly, I'd save the money now, and when next gen GPUs come about, sell the GPU and use the $300 spare to get a new one. This is because once you go higher than the 5700XT, the returns seriously diminish.

No, you can generally go as high wattage as you want, and it'll only sip the amount you use.

I'd recommend a 1440p 144hz monitor at this price range. Perfect middle ground.

Aesthetics basically. They both have the same quality of VRM (CPU power delivery) so in terms of overclocking power they are the same.

They might also have slight differences in port placement or other small stuff, but basically it doesn't matter and they're both good boards. The reason we chose the A-PRO is because it's cheaper for the same performance.

Very little really. One has an extra x1 pci slot and the other supports RAID but that's about it. Other than aesthetics.

In general you should look at the product and not the brand. All brands make really good products and also really bad products. (except for maybe luxury brands like apple?, but that's not relevant here)

that panel seems like a good option.

Nope.

In general, 400 series boards (B450 and X470) DO require an update, but MSI "MAX" series boards are guaranteed to have been manufactured after the release date of Ryzen 3000 CPUs, and so they do not need a BIOS update.

The reason motherboards need BIOS updates is that sometimes the motherboard is manufactured before the CPU, and so the motherboard doesn't 'know' how to talk to a newer CPU.

Get what's a good price and good value. Here's some good options with good reviews:

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/p4WfrH/msi-optix-mag27cq-270-2560x1440-144-hz-monitor-optix-mag27cq

For FPS games generally 32" monitors are considered a little big.

Sure

If he can stretch his budget a bit, this would be a good build:

(don't trust mail-in-rebates BTW. They're a pain in the ass and you might not even get the money)

If you want to keep it under $900, you could get a cheaper case or cheaper/smaller SSD.

you could downgrade the motherboard to save about $20 to $30 (motherboard tier list in my signature, if you want to pick another board) but that would mean that if you want to buy a beefy CPU in the future (3900X or 3950X in a few years when they get cheap) the motherboard might hold it back.

you COULD also downgrade the GPU to a standard 5700 or 2060 Super, but that would cause a big decrease in gaming performance, so I'd avoid that if possible.
