CPU Bottleneck using Radeon RX Vega 56

I recently inherited a Dell T1700 computer. It has a Xeon E3-1270 v3 CPU with 4 cores and 8 threads. It also has 16GB of RAM, 3TB HDD and 250GB SSD. Once I upgrade the power supply to something like a EVGA B700, I was considering buying either a RX580, RX590 or RX Vega 56. 

 

If I decide to use a RX Vega 56, will I have a bottleneck with the Xeon E3-1270 v3 CPU?

It will not bottleneck that much, but keep in mind there is no such thing as "not bottlenecking" every pc bottleneck from some component

I Use my knowledge as business owner and self taught technician aswell as an AI to help people. AI might be controversial but it actually works pretty well 90% of the time.

Did you replace the power supply in that Dell? An older, OEM PSU would not pair so well with a Vega graphics card.

As I wrote in my original post, I plan on replacing the power supply with a EVGA B700.

Sorry, misread. Unfortunately, that power supply would also be an ill pairing for such a graphics card. Have you checked out the PSU tier list? it can shed some light on better choices.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

 

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

The recommended power supply for this graphics card is 500W. A 700W PSU should be plenty.

The wattage is certainly more than enough. however, the transient power draw of Vega cards causes voltage spikes that create huge problems for cheaper PSU models like EVGA's bronze units.

 

@LukeSavenije, creator of the tier list, can probably advise quite well here.

Wattage isn't the only thing to consider-- that PSU has not-great ripple, safety features, etc. putting it in a lower tier. Would it probably work fine? Yes, but only probably, and there are better options.

Are you paying the $100 it seems to go for on Newegg? For that price you could get a TX650M which would be much better, and probably other options as well.
