Hi guys,

I have been having some problems while playing games for so long, i am connected with a cable to the WIFI range extender. I get around 6 maybe 7 Mb/s when downloading games off of steam, but when actually playing a game, such as CSGO and COD Warzone, i nearly get 1 Mb/s and my ping goes through the roof and it gets really frustrating. Any ideas what the problem is?

Thanks for your time.

It could be that the cable is bad and/or the range extender is not set-up properly or in a place of poor connectivity.

If the range extender has a set-up wizard, you can run through that again. Try positioning the extender closer to your router too, or in a less dense area.

i tried multiple cables and still experienced the same problems and even tried 1 other range extender, still the same problem

Sounds like your having a signal issue, as in your signal is not fully reaching your extender.

Few notes. Download speed is not only thing you need, upload speed is important too. You are sending stuff to server and receiving stuff. Generally you don't need more than 2mbps on both directions, and you surely can game on lower amounts. Ping is literally the time it takes package go from your client to server. So how much ping you get depends more things than just how connection between you and your router is. If you are experiencing constant high ping, the issue is either with your connection to game server or something else you same network (another download going on, family member watching Netflix etc.). If you are experiencing connection loss and ping spikes, then its more about your connection to router and routers connection to servers, and stability of those too.
