Looking for new CPU

Hey all.

I wonder, what CPU you would suggest in the near future?!

I would like to have CPU, future proof for 4-5 years, to have great performance.

With my i7 4790k

I do not feel it doing the job any more, can't be sure, if it has to do something with CPU, or anything else.

Simple tasks like opening file browser while Kaspersky active, find difficult for him.

My mothers new CPU doing better job.

CPU - AMD 5800XMotherboard - ROG STRIX B550-E GAMING , Memory  - G.SKILL TridentZ Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3600 ,

GPU - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti MSI SUPRIM X 12G,  Case - 4000D AIRFLOW Tempered Glass Mid - Tower ATX Case - Black ,

Storage - Samsung 970 EvoPlus 500GB - Samsung 870 EVO 1TB + 6TB HDD,

PSU - Corsair HX1000 , Display -  ASUS TUF Gaming VG27A 165HZ + Dell 24 UltraSharp Monitor , Cooling - Noctua NH-D15 Black ,

Keyboard - Razer Stalker , Mouse - Logitec G502 Wireless , Operating System - Win 10 Pro ,

Sound - Logitech Z906 5.1 THX Surround Sound Speaker System

How big an overclock do you have on your 4790k? Free performance boost if you haven't already done it.

The 4790k is a good CPU for gaming, web browsing, and basic everyday computing.

It only starts lagging behind in productivity workloads and when you are trying to do 500 things at once.

you could tell us what games you play, and what refresh rate.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Left stock  -   right when i Overclock, and only when gaming.

I do have Kaspersky, and Malwarebytes . and before you said not to do it, I already have them programmed to work separately  and not to interfere one with other.

Sometimes I do experience lag and performance delay.

I think there might be an issue with the MB, I don't know, and anyway , I wanted to upgrade the system long time ago.

Maybe when proper IPS 144HZ 27 inch monitor will be available in this Country, then I will upgrade to new GPU.

Reason why I want to upgrade.

My mother PC i build  few months ago with MB- ASus prime B365M-A and   i5-8400 - work much faster rather mine.

So I feel like the old one should be upgraded.

So you intend to play PUBG at 1080p resoltuion? Any other games? Also basic coding or more complex? How much FPS are you currently getting? I also recommend getting rid of MalwareBytes if it might be causing issues. Default windows security is pretty decent as long as you aren't stupid on the internet.

ok listen this is one of the best (the 4790k) CPU you can have in your board..

So in order to get to a better CPU you have to upgrade the mobo as well...

and with 350-400$ you wont get anything new that will have significant benefits in games compared to your current setup...

so I suggest to you just to OC the current CPU you have and sell your 1070 + the money you are willing to spend and buy a RTX 2080 super.

you will see imediate benefits in games and later on you can save some money and buy a Ryzen 5600 + mobo for like 300$ or so (and probably less cause in the future prices for these will fall down eventually)

Well. I would like to play on 1440p, but like I said, as long as we don't have here a proper 140 hz 1440p monitor, it useless to upgrade.

And i mainly just wanna upgrade to better CPU. newer. Faster.

Also, I would like to feel a full benefit from SSD nvme which I bought, but the old MB and CPU slowing it down.

In regard to security i am fine, but there are still some proper website which posses some threats.

Malware bytes like a secondary condome, XD

It all plan of a separated budget.

I am not interested only in gaming performance.

ALso, I already saw all kinda possible differences with different CPU combinations.

This is your best option in terms of gaming performance. Your CPU can easily handle anything you throw at it currently. NVMe SSDs aren't really much faster and for your tasks a SATA SSD would be just fine too. Later down the line, I advise getting Ryzen 3rd gen with a good B450 MB.

You need to realize that unless you give a full budget noone can give you useful advice on what to do...

if noone knows the exact budget you gonna spend for your upgrade then either he wont suggest anything or he will through a random idea...

I could say for example go buy a ryzen 3950X 32GB of gskill trident Z neo cl14 3600Mhz and dual RTX titans... (so about 6000$ upgrade)

Will ti be faster than your system? yes

Will it do good at what you want to use the PC ? yes

Is this suggestion helpful to you so that you can decide? no.

Or an otherguy would suggest buy a ryzen 5 3600 and an RTX 2060 ( along with mobo it will cost about 700$ or thereabout )

Will it be faster than your system? yes

Will it do good at what you want to use the PC? yes

Is this suggestion helpful to you so that you can decide incase you have of 400$budget or in case you have a 1500$ budget ? no...

so you need to tell your complete budget...  or we are just spitballing here...

XD.

I open minded, meaning you can trow what ever you want.

But all in the proper mind.

I am not interested in SLI setup.

I do not need best of the best.

16 GB is enough .  and the i9 9900k Is max CPU i will buy, which right now is my top option for future proof, for another 5-8 years, depends on what I will do.

after so many videos, I understand, that I do not Need more then 16GB of Ram, but Speed over 2600 I guess. Not RGB, i am not into that.

I have powerful enough PSU right now, so no need to worry upgrade there,

As well as case.

I have a really good CPU cooler, maybe I will upgrade it, only to match the colors of the PC.

In regard to prices, You asking for the budget.

It does not exist actually, in my current location, so it might happen that in your location  the 9700k  can cost around 400$ , but for me it can be around 600$, that is why I am only asking for advice, not to go over board.

I just would like to know some fresh opinions, after what I already know, for example that the 9700k might not be such a good idea, as it does have Thermal Threading

, and if you wish to pay such price, better to find another 200$ and gee the i9 9900k

For the GPU , it really depends what and how you wanna play it.

I am not interested to have ULTRA BEAST LOOKS,  but to have a smooth performance, which I might can have while playing on Nvidia Gsync monitor with 144 hz.

But in my case, I might have also lags, as I play on Eu servers, with around 70-110 ping.

Which is really not great. Which I also include in my reasoning if i need that much of advanced upgrade.

Hope all of this make sense.

Hope all of this make sense.

you are over complicating an issue and also not helping your self..

Essentially what you say is "throw at me random ideas I will check prices on my own and make a combination of the ideas that I like"

This means 1) You dont need us to do this... just browse your favorite store and buy something you like it will be the same thing

2) You are wasting time

3) You may not make an ideal upgrade because "combining" one idea from guy A (e.g for a CPU) with an other idea from guy B (e.g a mobo) and a third idea from guy C (e.g a GPU) according to your own experience could probably end up in a less ideal combination unless you know hardware and its performance at a high level.. but which means that you didnt need to open this topic in the first place people that ask for suggestion on upgrade their gear mainly do so because they are not able to determine what the best combination would be...

So incase you are not a very experienced guy hardwarewise you dont need to do that and you can simplify the issue just with less than a line of text inlcuding a) a budget b) your area.

Like "I live in europe, I have X amount of money to spend, this is my current setup what can I do to get the most out of my money for gaming and browsing the web? "

just ask this and you will get meaningful answers instead of wasting your time and do whatever you wanted to do in the first place before opening the topic (or ofcourse do whatever you wanted to do but again that means that there is no reason to have this topic)
