Would my Macbook mid 2009 a1181 support a 4k TV?

At 30Hz, likely.

This is a 2009 Macbook, it has a Mini Displayport connection. in 2009, we had Displayport 1.0 and 1.1. In 2010 we got Displayport 1.2.

Displayport 1.0 and 1.1 support 4K at 30Hz.

eventhough it supports 4k, it will not play 4k videos.

It just doesn't have enough performance.

Hey, I'm wondering where you found this information?

I didn't see this listed on the Apple website, only saw mention of the connections it has, not the type of displayport. Didn't find any mention of what the videocard (9400M) supports max.

Sure, I agree with that.. Although it depends on the bitrate of the video too.

Like for example YouTube 4K is a no-go probably. But just opening Word at 4K? Probably possible.

macbook white A1181 have a mini-DVI not mini-DP, dvi max res is 1920x1200 (single link).

geforce 9400 was added later, and still will not enhance the performance for 4k.

i'm assuming 4k video, 4k office is fine.

I am Going to use only for 1080p YouTube just woundering if works with a 4k TV.

you can do youtube 1080p 30fps, but it will feel sluggish. at 720p is perfect.
