Top fan placement/configuration (Stealing air from CPU?)

Like the title says, this is currently how I set up fans

- 2 Front intakes

- 2 Top exhaust

- 1 Rear fan

Will my top/frontmost fan steal coolair which is supposed to be going to the CPU aircooler?

Just adjust your fan curves so the top exhaust fans spin near idle and have the front fans set higher to pull in cool air. My system is configured the same way, temps are great and I am maintaining positive air pressure.

Ideally you want positive pressure.

 

Top fans, without radiators, can be set up to just “help” the air rise out the top.

 

You can buy very low RPM fans for this exact purpose, 800RPM max.

 

Always try and do the rough maths, how much CFM coming in and how much you are “sucking” out. Make sure in is more than out.

 

I have considered doing this but it means re-arranging all my fans and getting 3-fan splitters instead of the 2-fan ones I have now or getting a hub.

 

I could put two on the top but in my configuration they would have to spin very slowly to ensure that in combination with my rear exhaust they don’t exceed the CFM of my two front 140mm fans at any time.

 

I like to buy PWM fans so I need PWM splitters, PWM seems to just keep adding the $$$$!

 

Still when my fans all settle for idle or browsing my PC his very quiet.

Probably not in a way that it would matter. Depends bit on what the CPU cooler is and how big your case is.

 

Also, please use common image formats when posting to forums. Not gonna open random files.
