Hello there,

So I'm looking to upgrade my pc, see my current (and first) build.

But I feel the need for more power while gaming, I want to reach 144 fps while gaming on 1440p.

So my question is, will an upgrade to a Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER 8 GB help?

Or are there too many flaws in my current build?

love to hear your thoughts!

cheers

should work well. you won't get 144 fps in many games, but you'll get 100+ in plenty.

h510 doesn't have that great airflow, maybe look for a different one.

another option is to get a 2070 super and get a 3600

Hi Boggy77,

thanks for the quick reply!

I do have some questions:

  • Do you know what would it take to get near the 144 fps?
  • Do you have any recommendation for a different white case with usb c port on top?

depends on the game. but a 3600 with a 2070 super might be more balanced

Depends on the games you play. If they can take advantage of all 12 threads of your 2600, then a 2080S could stretch its legs and easily offer a huge boost in performance, but if they are more single-core dependant, then the 2600 might hold it back slightly.

@boggy77's option is really good, going with a 2070S and upgrading the CPU to a Ryzen 3600, as that would be a lot more balanced. That being said, if you think you'll be able to save up some more money in the next few months, then you could just go with the 2080S and upgrade the CPU later on. That way, you'll still get better than 2070S-level performance in some games now, and then unlock the 2080S's full performance once you also upgrade your CPU later on down the line.

Desktop: Intel Core i9-9900K | ASUS Strix Z390-F | G.Skill Trident Z Neo 2x16GB 3200MHz CL14 | EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER XC Ultra | Corsair RM650x | Fractal Design Define R6

Laptop: 2018 Apple MacBook Pro 13"  --  i5-8259U | 8GB LPDDR3 | 512GB NVMe

Thanks @mateyyy and @boggy77. I’ll go for the 2080s and upgrade the cpu later on.

What would be a great cpu for the 2080s?

if later on means a year or so later, wait for the ryzen 4000 series release.

if it means a few months, the 3700x

Alright, I might upgrade in a few months. However if my current cpu is seems okay, I’ll upgrade in about a year or so.

I really appreciate the help!
