Can’t get display working

I’ve been trying to hook up a 3rd display to my GTX 970 (which should be fine with up to 4 iirc), my card has 1 HDMI, 1 VGA and 2 Mini DisplayPorts, I’ve used the HDMI/VGA forever and both work fine, I’m trying to use a DisplayPort to HDMI adaptor from the PC, into the HDMI port of my 3rd monitor

No matter what I do, the screen always shows that there is no signal (32In LG smart-TV)

I’ve tried different cables and different ports to check it wasn’t anything cable or port related, but can’t think of anything else to try.

The monitor works fine with a normal HDMI cable, and the DisplayPort adaptor configuration won’t output to any of my other monitors, I’ve tried 2 different DisplayPort to HDMI adaptors, one of which was brand new today.

Anybody else had this sort of issue and mind sending me some suggestions?

Are you sure you bought DP->HDMI adapters and not HDMI->DP? They aren't reversible.

Also I believe you mean DVI port, not VGA.

DVI can direct connect to HDMI with a passive cable if it helps.

Yes DVI my bad, I think I have the right cable, the adaptor I’m using plugs into my graphics card, and the HDMI cable I’m using plugs both into the adaptor and into the back of the display

That's the point, one of those could also be plugged on the other end since both HDMI and DP are the same connector on both ends. But the adapter would only work in one direction.

Ah okay thank you, this is the one I’ve been testing today, sorry I don’t know too much about cables but could you tell me if this looks right or not? Thanks

Yep that should be correct.

I didn't know some 970s had mini-DP though, mine has full size ones...

Next time post the link instead of a photo if you can.

Sorry for another photo but these are the ports on my card, both displayports don’t seem to be able to output anything which is very strange :/

I’ve updated all my drivers and everything I can think of, still can’t get anything to work unfortunately. Any more ideas?
