This is about what I've come up with so far. My price range is about 3200-3800 euro's

I don't need any peripherals the PC will mostly be used for gaming.

My knowledge is somewhat limited when it comes to building a new PC

I believe I am capable of assembling it myself since ordering the parts separately seems to be a good way to save some money.

Please let me know what you guys think about this current setup and what you would do differently and why.

I am located in the Netherlands

Personally I am not interested in fancy lights or cases I just want the best performance for price and quality.
So when it comes to cases I've been struggling since I am not sure which one would provide the best airflow.

Thank you for any assistance you may be willing to provide.

really nice specs. but do your research on that motherboard. i have an 8th gen chip, so i didnt have the issue but if you buy a z390 series used you may need an 8th gen chip to update the bios to support 9th.

im using an 8086k and z390 taichi ultimate. bios came with 4.0 version. 4.2 in notes added 9900k support.

i have a focus g case on my build. Mugen5 rev b cooler. not sure how tall your cooler is tho but a suggestion.

https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/ROG-STRIX-Z390-E-GAMING/

The vendor doesn't say anything about bios versions would it be possible to update the bios or would a different board be recommended?

Also the vendor lists supported memory as 2133, 2400, 2667 but the official asus website says 4266z+ Does this mean it supports 3200 memory?

https://www.megekko.nl/product/0/243830/Asus-ROG-STRIX-Z390-E-GAMING?r=tweakers.net&utm_source=tweakers.net&utm_medium=cpc

this vendor is in dutch but you should be able to read the specs

That's not true, Z390 boards already support 9th Gen CPUs out of the box, 4.20 only added support for the 9900KS not the 9900K.

Though for some 9th Gen CPUs a BIOS update would be required for example the KF and KS series, but it's very unlikely you'd get a severely out of date BIOS at this point in time.

I used a power supply calculator and it recommended 850w so I figured i'd be save with 1000

But if 650w is plenty then ill definitely take it.

I chose Samsung SSD because it had great reviews and I figured spending a bit more for a better product might be worth it however if the longevity on the crucial SSD is also good ill take the €30 discount.

Not necessary interested in RGB so ill stick with the current memory

I am also really liking your choice for the case and ill look into it some more

Thank you for your recommendations

from all the benchmarks I've seen the 9900k does still get slightly higher fps in gaming.

And I don't really need the extra processing power for other things since all I really do is play games on this rig

it also saves me €555,-

my only motivation for this choice is performance in games

Thank you, i appreciate this tho

Don't trust PSU calculator they are often bad or garbage.

The Crucial is imo the counter part of Samsung for less (same endurance, warranty etc for a lower price). You can consider a NVMe seeing your budget like the Sabrent Rocket (not the Q).

Good case for airflow are imo the P600S and Fractal Design Meshify S2, no RGB in it but excellent build quality, airflow and expendability.

You could easily get a better monitor with a 3800 Euro budget.

For example with a 34" 3440 x 1440 144Hz monitor. I wouldn't suggest buying a 2080 ti though as the new cards should be getting announced towards the end of the month. Something like a 2070 Super would be better for the short term and then get a 3080 ti when they release.

If you wanted a cheaper monitor then you could switch to a 27" 2560 x 1440 165Hz.

I quite like this monitor and its not that old so I don't feel the need to update

maybe i should wait for the new cards my current system isn't that outdated currently running a  gtx 980 - 4770k

but some games are getting frame drops which is annoying

You could use the BenQ as a 2nd monitor for web browsing etc ? With a 3800 budget it would be a shame to be playing at 1080p.

Why do you think the 9900k is a bad choice?

Too expensive compared to AMD, and also a dead end platform. At least if you go with a Ryzen build you still have the 4000 series. And if you ever needed more cores in the future then you can just drop a 3900X/3950X or 4900X/4950X etc in there.
