Hi there everyone

i have a issue with my usb devices when i try to eject my external hard drive i get the following message

this device is currently in use. close any programs on windows that might be using the device, 

in event viewer i get the following output, The application System with process id 4 stopped the removal or ejection for the device USB\VID_0BC2&PID_AC33\MSFT3000000000NABDFWBH.

i just wondered if anyone has come across this issue.

 

The Motherboard is A Asus Crosshair viii Hero X570 With A ryzen 3700X and 32Gb Corsair Vengeance Pro 3600Mhz

Do you have anything running like mentioned above or perhaps a torrent program?

 

Can you boot into safe mode and eject it then?

All usb drives or just one?
If just one, you may want to go into device manager -> disk drives -> the usb drive -> policies, and swap to the other policy, press ok. Eject the drive. Hopefully it should now eject, if not set the policy back to the way it was. If drive did eject fine, unplug and replug usb. Go back into device manager and set the policy back to where it was originally, then eject again to test if the problem has gone.

hi there i only have a issue with my external usb hard drive, flash drive eject with no issues i tried your solution i was able to eject the drive but when i

re attached the drive it would not let me eject the drive.
