Four cores and threads. Why would You buy it in the first place?  More and more games benefit from six cores and more threads. Do You have the opportunity to buy 1600AF?

Is the Ryzen 2600 not similarly priced there? You'll have a CPU bottleneck on most new games with an i3.

The 2600 is 50nzd more and I am already pushing to get the 1660 super

I'd recommend:

  1. Saving up more.
  2. Looking for a used 2600 (or the 1600AF).
  3. Getting a lower end Zen chip like a 1400 and eventually upgrading to a 3600.

I know we're all pushing Zen stuff a lot, but there's a reason for it. The different ways you can upgrade has been great. You aren't so tied down to a single platform with AM4. Intel doesn't have forward or backwards compatibility, and hasn't made many generational improvements except for core count.

2nd hand market prices? 2600 is a very capable pick, if you can get it for say ~90-95USD (I'm not familiar with NZD exchange rates, so I've written the price in USD)

Life is really challenging. I don't always suceed: )
