Programs That Are A Must For My New Computer

DeevoGold

Hey folks, I just finished building my new computer last night and I am just wandering what you would suggest as an essential program/software I should get.

Also, I would like to OC my video card and wandering if anyone has any suggested settings for my particular card and what program to use.

Specs:

I7 3770 3.4 ghrz

XFX Radeon 7870 Double D Black Edition

16GB Corsair Vengeance

Asrock Extreme3 Gen3

320 GB Hard Drive

Corsair AX850 Gold Full Modular PSU

Windows 7 64bit

A great overclocking tool for your GPU would be MSI Afterburner (http://event.msi.com/vga/afterburner/download.htm)

HWmonitor is a great program for monitoring temps (http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html)

FurMark is good for stability tests for your GPU after overclocking (http://www.ozone3d.net/benchmarks/fur/)

Prime95 will test everything on your computer, I recommend running it for 10-24 hours to ensure your computer is stable (http://www.mersenne.org/freesoft/)

Heres a link for a Ninite installer that will get you:

Chrome, Dropbox, Java, Adobe Air Reader, NotePad++, VLC, Winamp, WinRar, Utorrent, Open Office, Shockwave, Steam and Skype.

I left out the antvirus because thats more of a personal prefrence I suppose. I have a very similar Ninite installer myself so I do recommend all these programs.

Note: It will start the installer download when you open this link, it does for me anyway.

I just want to add my 2 cents to your choices.

I7 3770 3.4 ghrz

XFX Radeon 7870 Double D Black Edition

You should have lowered the cpu to an i5 and then gotten a more powerful gpu

16GB Corsair Vengeance

Asrock Extreme3 Gen3

320 GB Hard Drive

ssd would have been nice, you spent too much on psu and ram

Corsair AX850 Gold Full Modular PSU

with an ax850 you can power 3 titans and a extreme edition cpu, this is overkill, you would have been fine with a seasonic 450w platinum psu, with your specs the gold rating means nothing.

Windows 7 64bit

Fractal Design Define R4 | MSI x79a-GD45 | 3960X @ 4.6Ghz | Lots of EK Blocks | EVGA GTX780Ti 3GB | Corsair Dominator Platinum 16GB (4x4) DDR3 1866 | Samsung 840 Pro 512GB SSD | Western Digital Red 2TB x4 (Raid 10) | Corsair AX760 | Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

Yeah, I received my Processor as a gift and I got the ram from directcanada.ca for only about $80.00, The video card seems pretty solid for me so far. Maxing all games I play on it without any issues. I mainly got the PSU because in all my other builds, the PSU always seemed to die on me within the first year.

Why both Winrar and 7Zip? 7zip does it all, no?
