I have put together some parts for my new build listed below:
Cpu - Ryzen 7 3700x

GPU - Sapphire rx480

RAM - ?

Motherboard - msi b450M Mortar MAX

Powersupply - Seasonic FOCUS Plus Platinum 550W

Storage - 240gb ssd 2tb hhd

Case - Phanteks p350x

I already have the rx480 GPU and looking to upgrade that at a later time. However, Do you lot think i will be needing a bigger powersupply (maybe 750W). Do i need to have the x570e over the msi b450m mortar max. I do have a budget and looking to spend less where i can but need it to work well.

No

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

ok so you dont think going over 550W is worth it at all?  and what is the need for the x570e?

What power supply you decide to get should really be based on the GPU you buy in the future. If you plan on buying a higher end GPU that you know will recommend upwards of 650-750 watts, then you should future proof it. I would get no less than a 850 watt PSU and call it a day, maybe even more if you plan on overclocking. I have a 1250 watt PSU, so I know I have more than enough room for a basic setup.

okay, but I would rather recommend the OP to see, how modern graphics cards became much more power efficient, along with the 7nm cpu-s. 550w will be plenty. 650w will cover pretty much every single GPU setup with 3700x.

No need for a nuclear reactor.

@jcwrogers1411 some background, why I told, that 550w is plenty.

Techspot usually tests GPUs with 9900k CPU overclocked to 5.0ghz on all cores. That is a hungry beast, consuming way above the 3700x. Whereas 3700x is a very efficient and low-power CPU (~half the power of it's predecessor, the 2700x), the 9900k with all-core OC can be pretty harsh to "feed".

Results for TOTAL system Power consumption with all-core 5.0ghz 9900k and 2060super, 2070 super GPU-s:

Power1.png

See? And these are stock values for the GPU. Typically, with undervolting Turing cards (so RTX 20.. series) you can decrease the required max. wattage by about 30-40 watts. (and gain some performance, and get a cooler-less noisy card..). Whatever you'll end up buying, I strongly recommend undervolting the GPU, bc it's just simply WORTH IT.

With a mildly UV-d 2070super& 3700x, your total system power consumption will be something like 190w for the GPU, 100w for the CPU, and 50w for everything else, so, not reaching 250watts. Even a decent 450w PSU can handle this. 550watts will be all needed IMHO.

Oh btw, next gen GPU-s will be ~ 30-40% more efficient, so, even 450w can be "futureproof" :)

True, 650 will cover plenty of setups......until it doesn't for some reason, and the PC randomly self reboots, with the screen having a brain freeze because the PSU ain't up to task like I've seen time and again. I'm certain half of the reason for the pain and suffering I endured with my previous PC was because of the PSU. 850 watts is far from a nuclear reactor, pretty standard actually.

ah thats brilliant think i wont bother with a big 850w but may go with a 650 or 750w but will this be a bit overkill?

Not if you are planning on upgrading in the future, like you said were planning on doing. Its exactly what the higher end cards will recommend. You might as well buy it now so you don't have to upgrade your PSU again later.

I have no idea who Ace is, and  £31 is awfully cheap for a power supply. You get what you pay for, especially when it comes to technology. If its cheap, then it means it was likely cheaply made. I would not be willing to play Russian roulette with my computer like this.

You don't need 850W. A 650W will cover you for any single gpu setup. Only reason to get an 850W would be for SLI/CF which isn't really relevant these days.

This Corsair TXM 650W would be fine.

Yeah it will work fine. You could probably find some other RGB Ram with tighter timings but not a major issue.

what price? I can't open the page. BUT: check this first

and think about, whether you'd be fine with a more cost-conscious choice.
