Hi!

I'm building my first pc and I'm really looking for help

The parts I've picked is around my pricerange and I'm really flexible, except the CPU, Video Card and Case (Unless you can convince me with a better case for around the same price).

I got questions like:

- Is the motherboard good? Is the Mortar MAX better for the same price? (Pricing in Norway sucks)

- How much of a difference will 3600Mhz give me?

- Do I really need M.2 NVME and that much storage? Or should I go with a SSD instead?

- How much watt should the PSU have? I've been mostly looking at Corsair CXM and TXM series

- Should I change anything? I'm really open for suggestions!!

- Case fan recommendations?
- Monitor recommendations? (Mostly looking for 144hz 1080p for gaming but I'm fine with 4ms)

Thank you sooo much for helping out this noob!!

- meeh, but enough, mortar same thing different flavor

- 5% at best

- no, not a lot programs that can use the nvme bandwidth, so a sata ssd might just be good enough. get a low (256gb) ssd + large hdd (2tb+), better bang for the buck.

- cxm 550w will be enough

- just the drive combo

- not a fan of case fan, any (working) fan is fan-tastic for me. (the cheapest)

- 2060 wont get that 144fps

Ryzen 5700g @ 4.4ghz all cores | Asrock B550M Steel Legend | 3060 | 2x 16gb Micron E 2666 @ 4200mhz cl16 | 500gb WD SN750 | 12 TB HDD | Deepcool Gammax 400 w/ 2 delta 4000rpm push pull | Antec Neo Eco Zen 500w

Not a bad build. Might want to look into investing a little money into a cooler.

  • It's fine. I prefer something other than MSI but each to their own.
  • Not a ton. If the price isn't that much ($10 or $15) you might as well, but I wouldn't spend $30 or $40 on it.
  • No, but often NVME is the same price as SATA, so why not. That's not a great drive though. Try to find a P1, some form of HP EX, 8200 Pro, etc.
  • 550w or 650w if you want to have some headroom.
  • Try and get a monitor with IPS, or at least VA. Nothing over 24".

It can easily get 144hz. Not everyone needs to play at max settings, not everyone is playing demanding AAA titles.

Making a statement like that is horribly uninformed.

- Any motherboards that you would recommend?
- That doesn't seems worth it so thank you!!

- Noted. I'll consider that!

- I just heard the "invest in a good PSU". I do have the money for TXM, but if its a waist I'll go for the CXM.
- Again, thanks!!
- I just heard you should have 2 intake fans in the font and 1/2 out at the back or on top. But if it's not needed then oh well. (I see the pun. Me like)

- Is hz the same as fps? I don't need everything maxed out. I want mid-quality+ and 90+ fps. Something like that.

Again, thank you so much for your input!!

- I just heard BIOS updates be a huge thing now so a BIOS button be good. Do you have any recommendations?
- Noted!!
- Didn't quite understand what you meant. Noob over here :(

- Would you recommend the CXM over TXM or vice verca?

- Seached up a little and IPS 1080p 144hz 24 inch sounds good!!

You're getting a CPU that's supported so it doesn't really matter; you'll be able to update the BIOS anyway. Plus, virtually all boards are now shipping with a BIOS that supports 3rd gen Ryzen.

The differences between SATA and NVMe are almost undetectable in day to day use. The 660p isn't a great SSD, there are better options out there.

They're probably both fine. If an RMx isn't much more I'd probably go with that.
