How to find out why a game is not compatible with Android device?

porina

Been playing Love Live All Stars since it came out worldwide about a couple weeks ago. My eyesight isn't what it used to be so I can't play it on a phone for any amount of time, and have to use a tablet.

Currently I'm mostly using an ipad which is not idea for multiple reasons, mainly that it has a single side firing speaker that isn't great for a music based game.

It runs great on an nvidia Shield Tablet with its stereo front facing speakers, but that's ancient and the battery doesn't last at all and doesn't seem to be easily available replacements. My "best" Android tablet is a Huawei MediaPad M5, but this is listed as a not compatible device. I'm using no problem for other games. It's not like the OS is too old on Android 9.

In searching around I came across an alleged "fix" to device not compatible message, by clearing Google related caches on the device, but this made no difference. I'm just curious why it is incompatible. Presumably the software creator can set certain things as requirements... maybe I could ask them? Even their previous title Love Live School Idol Festival works on that tablet.

BTW tablet has never been rooted, in case that is a factor for some software.

Install it on the Shield, use a file manager with app management capabilities to save the apk, copy it across to the Huawei and install it. Usually works unless there actually something needed that your tablet doesn't have.

The creator can set the minimum required Android version, hardware requirements (e.g. Camera or GPS) and also exclude specific devices outright if there are known incompatibilities.

Ooh, is this what they call a side load? I can give it a try...

You need to enable unknown sources in device settings to get this to work.

Also note that the Play Store may deliver an apk optimized for your device, so an app downloaded on the shield may not be ideal for your other tablet.

If you are ok with rooting your tablet then you can install Gltools on your tab and play games which aren't compatible with your device. You can hide the root using Magisk.
