GPU 1 x MSI GeForce RTX 2070 GAMING Z 8G 8 GB

A big performance bump isn't possible without a motherboard upgrade as well.

Please mention or quote me if you want a response. :)

So if you take a look at asrocks support page you can see that the best cpu supported is an i7 6950x, now on userbenchmark (https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-6950X-vs-Intel-Core-i7-5820K/3604vs2579) you can see that the difference in quad core speed is 8 % and the difference between octa core speed is 32 %, now most games will only use 4 cores, so an this won't be an upgrade worth it. As you will gain no extra cores. in games you will maybe get about 5 to 10 fps more

You can go to a 5930K for more PCI lanes or a 5960X/6950X for more cores.

No increase in single core performance though.

If you can get a 5960X/6950X for a great price and your workload can use the extra cores, the upgrade might be worth it.

It might also be worth it to look for how much you could sell your current setup and get something entirely new.

In the past, older gen X series motherboards fetched s good bit of money on the second hand market.

Yeah, I'm thinking about selling my current Rig.

It's a really good Setup, but like you said, I can't really Upgrade anymore.

Is there a special reason for upgrading? Seems like you didn't overclock yet nor do you use a quad-channel setup.

I am curious about what improvements you'd expect when changing the rig compared to what you get when improving the existing one.

My CPU is overclocked but you are right, I could do the quad-channel Setup for some improvment. I didn't even think about that xD

Don't get me wrong It's a good Setup, I just know that this Setup is getting at it's Limit.
I just wan't to prepare for the Upcoming Games and Software I want/need to use.
