Hey guy, I am currently looking for a new computer. This will mainly be my computer for studies, so it has to be portable and have a good battery life. I also want it to be a 2 in 1 so i can take notes with a stylus. Ideal size is 13-14". Other than studies I am a Music producer, and I would like to be able to do production on this computer aswell. A minimum of 8 GB of ram, but ideal is 16 GB. CPU should be quite fast aswell.

I have looked at the Lenovo Yoga C640, but would love to hear your recommendations

hp spectre x360 is pretty good but the lineup is very confusing. they have 13 inch models and 15. make sure you check the cpu config before you hit buy. there are like 5 different models with no indication of which one is the newest. other than that, its a good laptop with a stylus.

I bought a ThinkPad Yoga L390 (base spec) for my mom last year and got to test it out first before sending it on its way. I liked the machine a lot, and she loves it. She uses it primarily for work, which is basically Word, Excel and Outlook at this point in her career, and also uses it as a media box when flipped into a tent.

If you're a music producer, MacBook Pros should at least be in the conversation, even though they're not 2-in-1s

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

I’m a big fan of ThinkPad’s, so going to check that one out for sure. I have looked up MacBook’s aswell, and they would be ideal for Music Production. However I’m more of a Windows-guy myself, and the 2 in 1 option is a great addition for note taking and not having to deal with lots of paper. But thanks for the recommendation!

Could be possible to upgrade the ThinkPad maybe for better specs? Not sure what specs that are ideal for Music Production

That's gotten dicey lately. CPUs have been soldered for a long time, and RAM is more or less soldered these days too unless you make sure to get a model with one open DIMM. I think M.2 drives in ThinkPads are still very easy to replace as compared to Apple, which has soldered those to the board too. So, yeah, minimal upgrading is doable.

True, could allways just buy a higher spec model so I dont have to think about upgrading it for a while.

That’s about to be the standard for everything. It’s cheaper (for them), thinner and lighter to solder all the things.
