all it does is change the pin layout so yes it would work

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

It would give 3.1 Gen 1 (which is 3.2 Gen 1 or USB 3.0 or 5Gbit per seconds), speeds at most, because that is what the header of the motherboard you're adapting is capable of.

But perhaps the header on your board can do more, but I wouldn't count on that.
