mac mini 2,1 late 2007 32bit efi with 64bit core 2 duo repurpose.

Ryzenuser19

so i have a old mac mini and the case is REKT it has 4gb ram and a 64bit cor 2 duo chip and gma 950 igfx which suck for windows but im curious if i can use a custom efi.

installing lion then refind is a pain but id like to use android x64 on it which refind wouldnt boot.

i can get windows 8.1 installed in 64bit with refind.

i want to use this basically as a android tv/ games console as i can a ir mouse to simulate touch inputs which i used to do with my s6 and mhl cable and my wii sensor but that sucks and this has enough horse power to enjoy as a tv box.

though if anyone has any other ideas im open to them.

i was conidering a steam link box so my uncle could use my 144hz 21:9 screen with inhouse streaming as i use a tplink  TL-SF1016D  16 port(i call it a15 port+1  as one is for the internet)switch 10-100Mbps so latency should be minimised since all the devices bar our phones are on cat6 lan cables using ip6 since sky does that now.

i just want to re-purpose my old crap rather than throw it out when it works.

too slow for multimedia, the gpu is crap.

watching youtube over 480p will hog the cpu.

you can use it as a NAS, storing files over the network.

yeah but i turned my z77 sabertooth and a 3570k into a 6tb nas/ folding pc. and tbh most of that storage will just be taken by disc backup of mine and my uncles pc games. though what do you think about 1080p local streaming over lan?

1080p without convertion still can, i think.

other usage : smart home server (openhab), cctv server or other low end processing.

open hab ive never heard of that. now a smart home sever would be cool since i have a 18 philips hue blubs and wall mounts as im going to put 9 of them in a 3 x 3 over the space i use my desk and vr and the rest are for around the house so i think thats a great idea. i wish i knew exactly how many games can sync with philips hue but the lists ive found seem incomplete.
