Hi Everyone,

I've been a long time LTT viewer and forum stalker, but never posted anything.
I asked this same question on Reddit, but figured I should also ask it here!

I accidentally killed the following cable:

I was able to use an old molex connector, strip the wire, and connect it to the mini 4 pin. However, is this smart?

It's working, and I don't see any sparks... but not sure if this is wise to do?

If anyone has any idea, that would be great. I did wrap all the 4 wires individually in electrical tape...

Thanks!

The good news about real molex is it was designed to be hand wired. There’s a bit you push and you can insert and remove individual wires.  It’s one of the reasons fan makers hate the the things and like to do hot molded versions of what is essentially the same connector.  It messes with their ability to invent proprietary versions to corral the cattle into their “ecosystem”.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

Thank you!! So in other words, I'm good?

Probably wouldn’t hurt to look up a video on connecting molex connectors to make sure it’s done correctly but potentially
