Hi, I am wondering if I buy a speaker for my pc , do I need to buy a sound card for it.?

Most speakers will not require a dedicated soundcard, the soundcard built into your motherboard will do just fine.

Certain speakers will sound loads better on an amp though, so it depends on what you get

Motherboards have sound chips built in, and usually scale with the price of the board.

Most likely you do not need a sound card but older boards there are budget versions of boards that lack them, so best to check as @Dancam38 asks.
