CromeBook question

Is there a way to add more storage to a cromebook? I was wondering if you can just take out the old ssd and put in a new one and install windows on it? Would that work?

This 'laptop' uses eMMc memory, which is almost always soldered directly to the motherboard.

If you're lucky it might have a spot for a 2.5" drive, but I doubt it.

I don't have experience with installing Windows on a Chromebook, not sure if the BIOS for example on these devices is locked.

The  easiest way to expand your storage is checking if you have an SD card reader and plugging a card into there.

It is also worth mentioning that if it has a USB port that you can get a basic thumb drive to expand your storage. Some External Hard Drives are also compatible with Chromebooks, though I am unsure of how Chrome OS handles certain filesystems and partitions. USB Flash Storage is fairly cheap and plentiful, as are SD cards.

Of course, this also depends on the ports on the Chromebook itself, though as far as I am aware, most models have either USB A or equivalent, and almost all of them have some kind of SD card reader.
