MSI's Not So Great Instructions ASSISTANCE NEEDED

So, as much as I love the way MSI's stuff looks, their instructions for support related to their hardware is quite lacking it seems. Case and point: My MSI MEG Z390 Godlike motherboard. I can't seem to get the Mystic Light and specifically, the light that is supposed to light up the dragon over the chip-set, to work in any way, and I've spent close to two hours Googling anything I can find on how to get this to work with no success. At this point I'm beginning to question if the LED for this feature is even working properly at all or not. But needless to say, any instructions I have found on this so far have been very vague and have not solved this issue. Is anyone else using this motherboard who was able to get this to work somehow? If I can't get this to work, I'm just gonna get a different motherboard. I can't stand having hardware that is broken although admittedly I can't determine if that is the case here.

Everything I've done with my computer build so far is well-documented at:

I don't have an MSI board, so can't help much..... But I do turn off the fancy lighting on my Asus boards. I find it redundant to have on while I stare at a monitor while gaming and not my PC lol.

On a more serious note:

Are you using the software or something? Is there anything in the Application that helps configure the lighting?

Yeah there is but it basically does nothing and I've tried updating the firmware, scouring the BIOS for any settings, most of MSI's instructions are barely in English and it is very poor English. The BIOS is fully updated, I think I'm gonna be looking to get a replacement board of a different kind. MSI's best feature is that it looks so badass, but it really doesn't have very good support it seems.

Trouble is finding one to match this board's specs. I mean, I wish the lighting worked, but, at the same time the research I've done basically states that the lighting works for about 1 out of 20 people who buy this board, so at least it's not just like I got a bad board. It has 5, yes 5 native M.2 slots onboard and the placement of the PCI-E lanes is excellent. Most Asus boards I've checked out so far have 1 M.2 slot if that onboard, and few to 0 RGB LED options, which sucks. The decision to determine what board to replace this one with is going to be tough.

Wow, If it was me, I'd value m.2 and good Pci-e placement over a light up dragon. Getting rid of cables would do more for aesthetics than an led. But that's just the opinion of one guy with no glass side panel ?

You don't replace it.

Use it as it is while it has the features you NEED... the lighting is a want. Lighting doesn't load games.

Speaking of lighting, could you compensate with some lighting strips or something?>

Yeah and that's probably what I'll do, but that dragon light would have been so awesome :(. Yeah I am sure that I'll be happy with this when I'm using nothing for storage but 5 1TB M.2 SSDs and getting the corresponding transfer speeds at gigs per second. You are quite right, the lighting on the board is a want, and until I find a FULLY ENGLISH motherboard with 5 M.2 SSDs..... I'll probably stick with this one.

I do have a window on my side panel. A window, 5 m.2 slots dedicated, hinge-opening magnetic side doors on my case, a double computer case, case wheels, it's a pretty good build so far.

At least everything else works as it should and you're mostly satisfied.

But don't give up on trying to get it working either. Every now and then, play around with the bios and software and see if you can get it doing something.

Not ready yet but I will very soon. I just got my computer back from shop today so I still need to finish the wiring arrangement and I'm probably going to place in some RGB light control case fans so I can make up for the board not lighting, I need to change out the front-facing fan controller, and then, then when it is all prettied up and ready to go, I will reveal my grand design! :D

One thing I did do from the get go was bring the BIOS to the most up to date, and this is a very very new market board, so it could be possible that the absolute latest BIOS has bugs with the lightning and maybe they will address and even fix this in a future update.

Indeed I had thought to mention that, but got caught up in another thread.

Anyhow, can't wait to see your rig, but I gotta get off to bed.

Talk to ya later!

I will do. This thing is going to be a real champion, I have spared no expense and by the time it is fully finished it will be running two builds with 64 GB of DDR4-4000 in each, on Ax1600i PSUs with nothing but M.2 storage. I think with the second build I'll go AMD side since this side is Intel. Two RTX 2080Ti FTW3 GPUs and, I really can't come up with a better market build to date than that at the moment.

I haven't tried 64GB of memory at 4000mhz but have run 32GB. Gotta use a little tweaking and extra voltage, but it's doable.

OK... gotta go. lol. I have some F@H to attend to and off to bed. Laters.

As a scrub who has to pass the wife test (hence why I am still on an I5 6500) I enjoy seeing over the top builds. Can't wait to see it finished.
