Laptop turns on but screen stays off?

Triz

Hello , i have a laptop that doesnt have a battery in it right now . so i use it with the charger plugged in .

I was just watching youtube and all of a sudden it shuts off.

i tried restarting it and it does power on :

the laptop LEDs and fans turn on

the disc tray can open

But:

The screen stays off , completely off , not on with a black screen just completely off.

my mouse doesnt light up.

The specs of the machine are: (its pretty bad i know)

CPU: Core 2 Duo T6500

GPU: Geforce 220M

RAM: 4GB DDR2 (2x4gb)

280gb HDD

does anyone know a fix to this?

Power off, disconnect all USB devices and see if that helps, also opening monitor at different angles... If not, then try with external monitor to understand if it's GPU or screen to blame...if GPU died laptop is pretty much done, monitor or some power cable for it on the other hand is easy to swap.

i tried a different charger , disconnected everything and connected it to my monitor , still nothing . my monitor just gives me ''no signal''

My guess is GPU has left us, you will have to take the whole thing apart, but I don't think just removing dust will save this one.

Using external GPU is also kind of an option, but you can't really move such laptop around.

i could do that , but i dont think its worth doing that for this laptop..

between the gpu problem or the ram problem cause ram failure also makes your screen didnt show anything
