Can we install Hackinstosh with intel i5-9600KF or intel i5 9400F?

Go to solution Solved by williamcll,

seems like it:

I am Planing to build a Hackinstosh for Home Studio recording and video editing. However, I stuck in my decision to get a normal intel 9th gen processor like K or the non-k series or go budget-friendly and get intel i5-9600KF or intel i5 9400F. That thing I'm very concerned about is that what if I run into a problem where after installing the Mac OS that won't be displayed because you need to install the drivers for the graphic card first. Can anyone be able to give me some pointer and tips to overcome that issue

Components that I'm planing to buy:
Processor: Intel i5 9600KF or intel i5 9400F
Motherboard: Z390
Graphic Card: AMD RX VEGA 64 or AMD RX 5700 XT (My friend keeps telling me to go for AMD RX 5700 XT)
Ram: 32 GB 3200 Mhz
Storage: 500 gb SSD
the rest of the part i might decide later depending upon the budget remaining

My understanding is out of date, but the old wisdom used to be that getting a hackintosh to work literally at all is really difficult.  One thing that was required is that basically every component on the build needed to be a part that Apple has used sometime in the past.  If they’ve never made a machine with those CPUs the chance that they do something Apple doesn’t support is pretty high.

It was so bad that hackintoshes were usually done by “recipie” where one would look for machine builds that had already been done and then build a replica of that already functional machine.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Interesting video.  So it works, but because there is no iGPU, some stuff fails.  Apparently the big deal is no quicksynch which may affect video editing.

Hi Daniel.thang,

I've built a lot of Hackintosh myself, both on Intel and AMD, and as a general rule, if it's an Intel chipset that Apple uses, then your good to go without to much fiddling, (AMD requires a custom kernel). Two good sites to checkout are InsanelyMac: https://www.insanelymac.com/ and OSXLatitude:  https://osxlatitude.com/.

It will take some tweaking to get everything running smoothly, but the end result will be rock solid and considerably cheaper than a genuine Mac. Currently I have a couple of machines running OS X, including my Latitude E7270 that I managed to squeeze a 13.3" LCD into a laptop designed to hold a 12.5". :)

Let me know if you need more assistance and I'll do what I can to help.
